"No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting"--M.W. Montague
Do you guys agree with me that book arranging is a fine art? I think it is. I mean--we're not talking oil painting or ballet. But if you have a big ole' stack of books, hiding them in a cardboard box isn't helping you out at all. And it ain't fair to the books! I think these pictures show "books as art."
Some book-display hints:
-Take the paper jackets off your hardcover books. Usually there's a beautiful spine hiding underneath.
-Mix your books vertically and horizontally.
-Add some other personal items to your bookshelves: picture frames, souvenirs from travels, vases, etc.
-Don't forget that you can do more with your books other than just putting them on shelves. Take your big hardcovers and make an end table, like that last picture!
