Ode to Summer

Today I had a minor freak-out that it's the last day of June.
holy moly, people! where does the time go?
I know...you'd think I was a middle schooler faced with going back to school--- when will I grow out of it? Have you grown out of it?
As a counter balance, I thought I would post about summer. AKA, Operation Summer-Basking.

A sunny, yellow/white dining room---
about as summery as they come

I love love love these lanterns. My favorite are the teardrop ones, which can be found at Z Gallerie.com:

...for only $9.99!

If the colors aren't summery enough for you, check out the surf-board art!

Yes-Please to everything in this room

Love the summer cabin feel

Moving the party back outside:

Keep an eye out next time you go thrifting!

Places like Ebay are full of vintage fans.
Just keep them away from your children, I suppose---look how huge the spaces are!
(Was there no such thing as baby proofing in the 50s?)

Happy Summer!
With any luck, we still have a good 2 months of heat+pool time+outdoor lounging
Not too shabby!

True Blue

... An homage to all rooms blueberry, teal, sky, or baby
(blue, that is)

I love blue, it's one of my favey favey colors in the whole WORLD. Every kind of blue too---I don't discriminate! A few months ago, House Beautiful had issue dedicated to blue
A WHOLE ISSUE!

I know!
I couldn't contain my excitement, either.

The following images I've had floating around for awhile.
Time to share, I believe!

A delicious shade of peacock blue
+ love that sofa

One of the great things about blue is that it can dominate a room without
smothering it. It can be a predominate color without screaming.

It's so soothing, right?

Some gorgeous blue fabrics:

Sofa Swoon Thursday + Ikat Pillows

i·kat  (kät)
n.
1. A craft in which one tie-dyes and weaves yarn to create an intricately designed fabric.
2. The fabric so created.

-------------------------------------------------------
I want to hear what you guys think about ikat fabric! (As shown in all the pillows below.)
For some people, it reminds them of old-timey sofas.
Other people think it's a cool trend but are hesitant to try.
Others love it and I'm right there with them!
How about you?
