color palettes based on photos

Have you ever used a photo to inspire your color palette for a room? Well...it's an awesome way to find a starting point for choosing colors. I came across this photo and love it...isn't it pretty? I want to go there, wherever it is... Anyway, I thought it would be cool to create a few different color schemes based on the colors in the photo, and match them with rooms....

You could focus on the more subtle tones, like the soft blues and muted limestone shades...

Or you could pull a pink, blue, gray and some black from the iron rail to create a scheme like this:

Oooh I love the green on the door! It has this much of a range on it, can you believe it?
Zeroing in on just the greens of the door, you can get a room like this:

Using photos as a starting point can be a great way if you don't feel super confident about picking colors that "go together" (any colors can go together if you say they can though!)
